A Birthday, A Cake

Yes, today is my birthday! I am officially 18 – legally an adult! Today was not the ideal day to celebrate, so I actually baked this last Sunday. This year I decided to bake my own cake: a red velvet cake. I used this recipe from Pinch My Salt and it was delicious. I didn’t have the full two ounces of red food coloring, so my version was more of a purplish-brown velvet. Ceci did the lettering with a sparkly gel icing. It was a fairly standard cake, but I’m ridiculously proud of it!
